Working together for a future worth living
LEONHARD WEISS always looks ahead and, in particular, at our surroundings – the environment in which we live. In line with our values, we therefore want to work not only in nature, but in harmony with it.
This means that environmental management, energy management, climate neutrality and the use of raw materials are of great importance. We design sustainable construction in a responsible and future-oriented manner – today and tomorrow.
We protect our environment
As a company active in an energy intensive sector we adhere to a clear strategy, in order to reduce environmental stress and the consumption of energy resulting from our business activities. Thanks to of our environmental and energy management system we coordinate the corresponding measures according to the standards ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
We are on the path to climate neutrality
The main part of our emissions is caused by the use of fuel for the operation of the construction machines end equipment, as well as for their transport. Therefore, we don’t only test alternative kinds of actuation like E-technologies in road traffic but gain experience with machines and equipment on our CO2-reduced construction sites.
In order to achieve the company-wide sustainability objective of LEONHARD WEISS ”climate neutrality by 2045“, we have developed several measures to reduce our emissions step by step with our specially devised plan in stages.

We intensively analyse our CO2 footprint and are open for new technologies. Therefore, we invest into a modern train of machines and equipment.

We appreciate our raw materials.
Construction materials like concrete, steel and other metals are energy and emission intensive in their production. Based on the purchasing prices, they represent about half of the entire purchasing volume (see diagram).
Relevant sustainability topics for LEONHARD WEISS in the field of raw materials are dismantling measures, among others, and the excavation of building pits. We make an effort to reuse materials as far as possible and to minimise dumping. We give mineral substitutes of construction materials a second life cycle in the cycle of materials.

We consider it particularly important to save resources when building and to use our raw materials carefully. We want to recycle as much as possible – just in the sense of the recycling economy.
