According to Autobahn GmbH of the Federal State the section around the motorway junction Feuchtwangen A6/A7 will be a highly frequented stretch of motorway with approximately 66,000 vehicles (18,000 of which are trucks) by the year 2030. In order to be able to guarantee a maximum capacity in the future, tenders were invited for the upgrade of the section involving several intensive construction projects. LEONHARD WEISS participated in four phases with several crafts and realised the challenging project, which involved a high traffic volume and extensive coordination effort, according to schedule.
Motorway A7 replacement structure BW 741b bridge over A6 - junction Feuchtwangen
This challenging project includes a stretch of approximately 300 m and a roadway width of 12 m each on the main lanes and 10 m each on the two service roads. The main performances included the demolition of the existing structure, excavation and backfilling of the building pits, road construction of the two main lanes, as well as the production of the drainage installations. The flyover, composed of four partial structures, is an integral part of the preliminary measures for the upgrade to six lanes from the border between Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria to the motorway junction Feuchtwangen.

Motorway A6 replacement structure BW 713a bridge over DB Schnelldorf Dombühl with new construction of road
The large project includes the new construction of road in the direction Heilbronn on a stretch of approximately one kilometre including service road, bypass and main road with a regular roadway width of 14.50 m.
An important element of the construction project is the replacement structure of the bridge over the two-track railway line Schnelldorf – Dombühl, as well as a district road. The team around the engineering construction division of LEONHARD WEISS installs 1,200 t of reinforcement, 8,000 m³ of concrete, 60 t of prestressing steel and 650 t of supporting frame material per construction section on a bridge surface of 3,200 m². The production of the foundation and the temporary pit support system requires extensive special underground engineering works.
This project is spart of the upgrade to six lanes from the border between Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria to the motorway junction Feuchtwangen and demonstrates the capacity and expertise of LEONHARD WEISS.

Motorway A6 upgrade to six lanes from the border between Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria to the motorway junction Feuchtwangen – LOT EO 714
The stretch of the motorway A6 from Heilbronn to Nuremberg, the upgrade of which is realised in four construction phases, includes a length of approximately 2.4 km including service lane, curved lane, bypass and main lane in the direction Nuremberg with a regular roadway width of 14.50 m.
The installation of approximately 42,000 m² of asphalt including the dry superstructure and the production of the drainage system including rain-water retention basin are the main construction services for this project, in addition to the dismantling of the existing lanes. The focus was put on the resource-efficient execution of the works. The construction material for the dry superstructure is produced on the construction site using the dismantled materials of the lanes, in order to reduce the use of primary construction materials.
The experts of the construction engineering division of LEONHARD WEISS are a reliable part of the team. They take responsibility for the execution of the intake structure at the rain-water retention basin, as well as for the construction of the foundations of the overhead gantry signs along the motorway section.

Motorway A7 D740 RL basic renewal – without asphalt
The basic renovation of the motorway A7 includes a stretch of 1.9 km with a roadway width of 12 m per direction and the renovation of the structure BW 742b.
The main performances are carried out in connection with the construction of the main lane in the direction Würzburg and Ulm, the installation of about 35,000 m² of asphalt including the dry superstructure and the production of the drainage system. The material for the dry superstructure is produced resource-efficiently using the material of the existing concrete lane.
