Electronic control centre Osterburken

Railway infrastructure in Baden-Württemberg is being updated

Customer: DB Netz AG
Construction time: 24 months Year of construction: 2021–2022
During the complete shutdown from the end of July until the beginning of September about 6,500 m of new cable ducts of the sizes I to IIIa were installed for the new electronic control centre in Osterburken. For the production of cable conduit routes, a boundary path of 1,200 m had to be built in certain areas of railway embankments before the cable ducts could be installed. This boundary path is composed of ballast supporting slabs, which are stabilised by driven-in HEA steel beams. Along the two lines 4120 and 4900, 73 signal foundations were built for the new control, communication, and safety systems by means of driven casing pipes TECDOWN or by means of the monolithic construction method. In order to guarantee the new cable route, 43 track crossings in open construction method were built along the entire line. For building them the track system was opened and the empty conduits installed and concreted under the rails. At three neuralgic points concerning the sighting distance of the signals it was necessary to produce three new signal brackets. For the foundation of two signal brackets, two steel pipes with a diameter of 700 mm were driven in and a ridgepole with foundation basket was concreted. For the third signal bracket a complete sheet pile wall casing was driven in up until reaching a load-bearing soil layer and anchored to the ground by means of additional micro piles. In order to enable the technical equipment to communicate with each other, approximately 120,000 m cables were laid for the entire project.

Renovation Location Marker RBC Buggingen

Reference point for train operation is marked and erected

Customer: DB Netz AG; Freiburg
Construction time: 14 months Year of construction: 2021–2022
In connection with the upgrade of the railway lines 4000 and 4280 of ETCS Level 2 the existing signs fixed to reinforced concrete posts were dismantled, and at the same location steel posts (length 5 m) incl. a driven casing pipe foundation were installed. Location markers, as well as signal denomination signs, were fastened to the steel posts. The works were entirely carried out during shutdowns. A total of 315 m driven casing pipes Ø 200 mm, as well as 125 steel supports incl. signs were installed.
