City Tunnel Frankfurt am Main – Tunnel escape route signposting

Safety in the tunnel – follow the new signs

Customer: DB Netz AG, Frankfurt am Main
Construction period: 3 months Year of construction: 2018–2019
Service provision, refitting of tunnel and renovation of tunnel escape route signposting during train operation in very short shutdowns during the night (> 2.5 h). Incl. dismantling of existing old signposting, surveying performances for location works, execution planning for the special fastening system of the installation in Stahl-Tübbing. Dismantling of approx. 850 signs in tunnel tubes and emergency tunnels, as well as new construction of 2,400 signs in tunnel tubes with an individual length of 5.5 km. High efforts for disposition and logistics due to the very limited lead time and performance intervals.

City Tunnel Frankfurt am Main – Renovation of tunnel emergency lighting

Safety in the tunnel – emergency escape in new light

Customer: DB Netz AG, Frankfurt am Main
Construction period: 6 months Year of construction: 2018–2019
Service provision, refitting of tunnel and renovation of the tunnel emergency lighting during train operation in very short shutdowns during the night (> 2.5h). Incl. dismantling of existing lighting, survey performances for location works, execution planning for the special fastening system of the installation in Stahl-Tübbing and the special lamp poles. Delivery and installation of piping routes (non-halogen and UV resistant) and the system components, as well as the wiring system. Taking into operation, measuring, training of employees, making available track-bound installation vehicles. High efforts for disposition and logistics due to the very limited lead time and performance intervals.

Mettlacher Tunnel retrofitting

Safety technology for the Saar section

Customer: DB Projektbau, Frankfurt am Main
Construction period: 18 months Year of construction: 2013–2014
The route Saarbrücken - Trier is one of the most busiest in the Saarland area. Due to the simultaneous work in five different trades with up to 30 men on a 1,200 m track length the construction project could be realized in the shortest possible time.

Lütgendortmunder Tunnel

Tunnel renovation during night track possessions only

Customer: DB Netz AG, Duisburg
Construction period: 5 months Year of construction: 2010
Underground cable laying, civil engineering, road construction, landscape work, tunnel renovation, work in the tunnel possible during night possessions only, creation of a rescue area including fire service access, removal of escape route from the tunnel portal to stairway, renewal of stairways, planting of fruit trees and bushes.

Frau Nauses and Krähberg tunnel infrastructure

100-year old tunnel on the Odenwald railway

Customer: Deutsche Bahn AG Frankfurt am Main
Construction period: 36 months Year of construction: 2007–2010
Safety and fire protection equipment of tunnels, Krähberg tunnel, 3,100 m, and Frau Nauses tunnel, 1,100 m.
Both tunnels are over 100 years old and are located on the Odenwald Railway.

Krähberg Tunnel
Very cramped conditions owing to small tunnel cross-section, work possible during night time track possessions only, material provision possible via track logistics only, renewal of a steel staircase construction with steep cutting areas of up to 80° in front of the east portal, staircase length 56 m. To accommodate the DRY powder extinguisher water, the tunnel shell had to be stabilized by means of jointing renovation and appropriate injections, then renovated.
Frau-Nauses-Tunnel
Work possible during night time track possessions only, material provision possible via track logistics only, renewal of 2 reinforced concrete staircases, each with an approximate length of 35 m.
